A Must-Have for Car Collectors: This unique vehicle, originally engineered by Teledyne Continental Motors' Terrestrial Propulsion Division in 1984, was conceived as a Lightweight, Highly Mobile Weapons Carrier, Reconnaissance, and Scout Vehicle Prototype (the "LFV") for the United States Military. As one of only three LFVs ever produced, and the sole running model, it is a priceless relic from a fascinating chapter of automotive history.
Teledyne Continental Motors identified this vehicle as Serial Number 3SF5626-501-002, marking it as the second prototype ever constructed. Its kin are mere stationary artifacts, with none of the two remaining models in operation. The vehicle boasts an intriguing connection to the Lamborghini Cheetah design project, which was acquired by Teledyne Continental Motors during the HMMWV design face-off, featuring prominent companies like Chrysler/General Dynamics, Cadillac Gage, and AM General in the late 1970s.
Previously under the care of the Ropkey Armor Museum in Indianapolis, IN, this LFV was procured from L3 Corp at their Muskegon Michigan plant—previously Teledyne Continental Motors, Terrestrial Propulsion Division. Undergoing a meticulous restoration and upgrade by OffShore OffRoad Custom's in Nantucket, MA, it was transformed into a street-legal wonder, complete with a Massachusetts Vehicle Identification number.
Beneath the hood lies the vehicle's original BMW 2.4L 6 Cylinder Turbo Diesel Engine, coupled with an AWD automatic transmission. This truly is a special vehicle, guaranteeing a wealth of admiration wherever it ventures. It should be noted, while the brakes and transmission are functional, some additional modification work is required for optimal driving.
Attention serious collectors: this piece of history is available for $250,000 US dollars, with options open for trade—particularly for a Porsche Turbo Convertible or similar. Vehicle currently located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
